The Precision 5520 is the workstation for people who were told they had to choose. It carries ISV-certified Quadro graphics and a 45W quad-core processor inside a 17mm chassis that starts at 2kg — the same InfinityEdge body as the XPS 15, with professional drivers behind it. For architects, engineers and editors in Egypt who move between site, office and client, it is the rare CAD machine you can carry all day. Configure the memory, storage and display below.
Why Choose the Precision 5520
- Workstation Power at 2kgA 45W quad-core i7 and 4GB Quadro in a 17mm chassis — the portability of an ultrabook with the certification of a workstation.
- ISV-Certified Quadro GraphicsThe Quadro M1200 with 4GB GDDR5 runs AutoCAD, SolidWorks and Revit on professional drivers built for stability, not frame rates.
- A Screen for Colour WorkThe 4K touch panel covers 100% of the Adobe colour gamut at 400 nits, so what you approve on screen is what the printer produces.
- Thunderbolt 3 DockingOne USB-C cable carries dual displays, data and power, turning the laptop into a desktop the moment you sit down.
- Room to GrowTwo SODIMM sockets take up to 32GB of DDR4, and an optional 2.5-inch bay sits alongside the SSD for archive storage.
- Edge-to-Edge DisplayThe InfinityEdge bezel fits a 15.6-inch screen into a chassis the size of most 14-inch laptops.
In daily work the 5520 handles the things a design professional actually does away from the desk: opening and editing AutoCAD drawings, navigating Revit models of moderate size, retouching in Photoshop and Lightroom against an accurate 4K panel, cutting 1080p and light 4K footage, and running a full office workload on top of it all. The 45W processor gives it real headroom over the 15W ultrabooks it resembles.
Be clear on the trade-offs of the thin design. Memory stops at 32GB across two sockets, so if your models need 64GB the Precision 7710 or 7720 is the right machine. The Quadro M1200 is an entry-level professional card — certified and dependable, but not for heavy GPU rendering or large simulation. There is also no Ethernet port: networking is Wi-Fi 802.11ac or a USB-to-Ethernet dongle, which matters if your office runs wired. And sustained rendering will run warmer here than in a 17-inch chassis with room to breathe.
